Hesse CROFTON - LaVerda M. Hesse, 78, died Feb. 2, 2001, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, S.D. Visitation was Feb. 4 at the Wintz Funeral Home, Crofton. Mass of Christian Burial was Feb 5 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Crofton, with Rev. Bob English officiating. Burial of ashes will be at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Crofton, at a later date. Pallbearers were Aaron Hesse, Luke Fritz, Terry Peterson, Orlando Maldanado, Chris Peterson and Mike Cain. LaVerda was born Feb. 11, 1922, to Walter and Marie (Aubert) Nihart in Crofton. She married Edwin J. Hesse Jan. 29, 1947, in Crofton. She grew up and attended school in Crofton and lived in Crofton her entire life. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of America. Survivors include her husband, Edwin, Crofton; five children and their spouses, Larry and Maggie Hesse, Crofton; Nancy and Terry Peterson, West Point; Rick and Mary Hesse, Omaha; Merri Gay Fritz, Farmers Branch, Texas; David Hesse, Dallas, Texas; seven grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
