This file was contributed for use in the NEGenWeb Archives by Carol Tramp Permission granted by: Rob Dump, Editor, Cedar County News ====================================================================== THE CEDAR COUNTY NEWS - JUNE 22, 1939 FRANK HOCHSTEIN DIES AT FORDYCE WAS A CEDAR COUNTY RESIDENT FOR SEVENTY-TWO YEARS Death came Sunday morning to relieve the suffering of Frank Hochstein, well known retired farmer of the Fordyce Community when he passed away at the family home about 8:30 am. Mr. Hochstein was a resident of Cedar county his entire life, having been born September 9, 1887 at St. Helena, the son of Frank and Josephine Hochstein. During his 72 years he was Cedar county grow from the unsettled prairie to one of the farming territories in the world. He was a God fearing citizen and highly respected by all. the cause of his death was attributed to high blood pressure from which he suffered for a long time and which he practically made him an invalid for the past two years. Mrs. Hochstein, the former Ann Fernholtz, who he wed at Bow Valley June 6, 1893 passed away in Hartington in 1930 and since then the deceased has made his home in Fordyce. The names and places of residence of the surviving children are as follows; William Nazareth, Texas, Mrs. J A Haeschen, Hoquiam, WA., Mrs. Joseph Stevens, Mrs. Ray Walters, Mrs. Leonard Walters, and Alfred Hochstein of Hartington, Mrs. August HErfkens, Wayne and Mrs. Leo Dobmeier, Nazareth, Texas. The following brothers and sisters survive; Mrs. Louis Marx and Mrs. Anthony Heimes of Bow Valley, Mrs. John Wuebben, and John Hochstein of Wyont, August, Pincher Creek, Canada. Mr. Hochstein was affiliated all his life with the Catholic Church. The funeral services were set for this morning (Thursday), at St. John's Church in Fordyce with Rev. Daniel Reifenrath, officiating. Interrment was to be in the Fordyce Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers are Fred Wuebben, Ignatius Heimes, Lawrence Hochstein, Wendell Marx and Ignatius Steffen.
