Permission granted by: Rob Dump, Editor, Cedar County News ====================================================================== Cedar County News 4-28-1932 Funeral Services for Mrs. Hoesing Eighty-Four Year Old Menominee Resident Passes Away Funeral services for Mrs. Catherine Hoesing of Menominee who passed away at 6:30 Thursday evening following an illness of several years, were held at St. Boniface Church at Menominee at 10 am Monday morning. Interment was in St. Boniface cemetery beside the body of her husband, Henry Hoesing, who preceded her in death, eight years ago. Services were conducted by Rev. Father Ferdinandn Krings, pastor of St. Boniface Church and pallbearers, were Raymond, LeRoy, Eugene, Leonard and Henry Hoesing, and Joseph Huenekens. Mrs. Hoesing who had been in poor health for several years, passed away in the Sacred Heart hospital in Yankton where she had taken recently for treatment. Mrs. Henry Hoesing, who was a few weeks past 84 at the time of her death, was born in Westphalia, Germany, March 15, 1848. Her name before her marriage was Catherine Tembusch. After spending the greater part of her girlhood in Germany. Mrs. Hoesing came to America and to Cedar County where on November 11, 1872. She and Henry Hoesing were united in the old St. Helena Chapel. Mr. and Mrs. Hoesing were parents of 14 children, 11 of them whom are still living. Most of their married life was spent near Menominee. Surviving Mrs. Hoesing are three daughters, Mrs. Joseph Meyer of South Sioux City, Mrs. B. J. Witte of Orient, S.D., and Mrs. Mary Huennekens of Crofton. Eight sons, Anton, Fordyce, Joseph and Edward, Menominee, Theodore, Crofton, William, Carroll, Iowa, John, Eagle Butte, S.D., and Henry of Bowdle, Sd. The three children who preceded her in death were Frank, SD., ten years ago, Bernard, who died about 35 years ago, and Mary who died in infancy. She also leaves 59 grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. Mrs. Hoesing was a member of the Catholic Church and was a Christian mother, and a well respected member of the Menominee community in which she resided for so many years.
