This file was contributed for use in the NEGenWeb Archives by Kristi Bergman Lam. kristi.lam@home.com Permission granted by: Rob Dump, Editor, Cedar County News ====================================================================== Elsie Jensen Buried Here Funeral Saturday at Trinity Lutheran ---------- Funeral services for Mrs. Elsie Marie Jensen, 78, who died September 2, at Pasadena, Calif., after a brief illness, were held at Pasadena September 3, and from Trinity Lutheran church in Hartington Saturday at 9:30 a.m. with Rev. O.L. Levorson officiating. Burial was made in the Hartington cemetery under the direction of the Jones-Smith Funeral Home. Pallbearers were R.H. Jenny, Harry Lentz, Steve Wohlman, Herbert Bottolfson, Martin Bottolfson and Glen Bergman. Elsie Marie Anderson was born August 23, 1872 at Jutland, Denmark. She came to this country when a young woman in 1895, settling at Harlan, Ia. She was married to Anton Jensen at Merrill's Grove, Ia., January 12, 1896. They made their home at Harlan, Ia., until 1908, when they came to Hartington and Cedar county. Mr. Jensen died here May 9, 1945. In 1946 Mrs. Jensen went to Pasadena, Calif., to make her home. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran church and an active member of the Ladies Aid and Reading Circle. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Andrew (Jennie) Haahr, Hartington, Mrs. John (Christine) Rasmussen, Pasadena, Calif., Mrs. S.W. (Minnie) Gemmill, Anoka, Minn., and Mrs. Albert (Elvina) Rasmussen, Pomona, Calif.; two sons, J.E. Jensen of Sacramento, Calif., and Anton Jensen of Hartington; 13 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. An infant son died in 1903. Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral here were: Mrs. Joe Porter, Council Bluffs, Ia., Mrs. Helen Wallace and J. Clair Hand of Omaha; Mrs. John Rasmussen of Pasadena; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Rasmussen and James of Pomona; Mr. and Mrs. S.W. Gemmill, son George, and daughter, Marie, of Anoka, Minn.
