Kathol, 77, died Feb. 21, 2000, at Mercy Medical Center, Sioux City, Iowa. Visitation was Feb. 24 at the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington. A prayer service was held later that evening at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Bow Valley. Mass of Christian Burial was Feb. 25 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Bow Valley, with Rev. Mark Tomasiewicz officiating. Burial was in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Bow Valley, with Military services conducted by Hartington VFW Post #5283. Pallbearers were Bill Heimes, Brian Wolhoy, Lee Milburn, Matt Huennekens, Gregg Kathol, Ben Holzbauer, Josh Climer, and Rob Pedersen. Ivo was born June 25, 1922, to Joe and Anna (Burbach) Kathol in Hartington. He married Bernadette Jansen Nov. 23, 1943, in Menominee. Ivo lived and farmed in the Hartington area all of his life. He was also involved in the trucking business, bee keeping and woodworking. He was stationed in the Pacific while serving in the army during World War 11 from Feb. 21, 1945 to Aug. 31, 1946. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Bow Valley, where he also served as a Eucharistic Minister, and a member of the Hartington VFW Post #5283. Survivors include his wife, Bernadette Kathol, Hartington; nine children and spouses, Karen Ann and LaVerle Heimes; Hartington; Mary Lou and Jack Wolhoy, Yorktown, Iowa; Bernice Milburn, Albion; Yvonne and John Huennekens, Yankton, S.D.; and Mary Lou Kathol, Hartington; Janice and Gary Holzbauer, Wagner, S.D.; Marjorie and Jim Climer, Hartington; Rita and Rich Pedersen, Hartington; Lilia and Joel Hansen, Omaha; 34 grand- children; a brother and spouse, Clarence and Dorothy Kathol, Hartington; two sisters, Gertrude Hochstein, Hartington; Marie Janssen, Ackley, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Leona Kathol, Hartington; Vivian Kathol, Medford, Ore. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Roger: granddaughter, Traci Kathol; two brothers, Hugo and Addo; and two sisters, Theresa Hochstein and Regina Mauch.
