Permission granted by: Rob Dump, Editor, Cedar County News ====================================================================== Hartington Herald Nov. 28, 1918 Esteemed Citizen Laid To Rest The funeral for the late John Kirchmeyer was held at the Holy Trinity Church last Friday morning at two o’clock, and was very largely attended. Interment was made by Calvary Cemetery. The late John Kirchmeyer was one of the county’s most highly respected citizens and passed away after a short illness on November 15th. Mr. Kirchmeyer was born in Podernderf, Hungary in 1849. He grew to manhood and was married there. He and his wife came to America in 1983, and located at Webster, S.D., There they lived until 16 years ago when they came to Cedar county and purchased the farm southwest of town where they since have lived. John Kirchmeyer was an honest industrious Christian man and was very highly esteemed by his neighbors and friends. He leaves to mourn the loss of a kind husband and devoted father, a wife, one daughter and three sons, Mrs. Mike Schwarz, Jos. P., J.W. and B.H. Kirchmeyer all of this vicinity. A nephew and nieces live in South Dakota.
