Msgr. B.H. Lordemann celebrated the solemn requiem high mass assisted by Rev. Edward Schad and Father William Giblin of Newcastle. Burial was made in St. Michael's cemetery of which Mr. Kneifl had been a caretaker until he retired due to failing health two years ago. Jones Funeral Home was in charge of arangements. Pallbearers were: Alphonse Lammers, Bernard Schager, Morris Lund, John Fleming, sr., Joe Bergman and Fridolin Bruening. Matt, son of Phillip and Frances Kneifl was born on a farm near Newcastle February 24, 1882. He was married to Madeline Dreesen, daughter of Peter and Katherine Dreesen of East Bow, September 3, 1912. To this union five children were born. He made his home on the home place near Newcastle until 1925 when he moved to Hartington, where he made his home at the time of his death. He was a member of Holy Trinity parish in Hartington. He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Yvonne at home; four sons, Roy of Hartington, Robert of San Diego, Calif., Don of Denver, Colo., and Maurice of Seward; one brother, Gregg Kneifl of Newcastle; five sisters, Mrs. William Verzani of Sioux City, Mrs. Mary Engel of Sioux City, Mrs. Carl Felber of South sioux City, Mrs. John Marion of Newcastle and Mrs. Josie Heidy of Newcastle. Two brothers, Mike and J.T. are deceased. All of his children except Robert of San Diego, and all of his sisters and brother except Mrs. Carl Ferber, who was ill, attended the funeral services.
