Phillip and James Catholic church at St. James for Francis Xavier Koch, 76, who died July 21 at a nursing home at Albany, Ore., after a five months illness. Rev. Meiergard officiated at the service and burial was in the St. James cemetery. Pallbearers were nephews of the deceased, Raymond, Donald, Robert and Erwin Koch and Quintin and Marvin Wieseler. Francis Koch was born near here in 1874, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Koch, early settlers of this section. He farmed here until about 1928 when he moved to Halsey, Ore. where he engaged in blacksmith work until April of this year when he became ill. The body was shipped back to his old home community for burial and arrived last Wednesday, accompanied by Mary Ann Johnson of Portland, Ore. Survivors are three brothers, Alex of Wynot, Leonard of Ainsworth, and Joe of Boise, Ida., and one sister, Mrs. August (Margaret) Deminski of St. Libory. Those in attendance from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Koch of Ainsworth, Mary Ann Johnson of Portland, Ore., Mrs. August Deminski of St. Libory, Sylvester Irle, Hartings, Irene Koch, Yankton and Joe Dougherty and son of Newcastle.
