This file was contributed for use in the NEGenWeb Archives by Carol Tramp ====================================================================== WYNOT TRIBUNE - SEPTEMBER 21, 1911 Death of Mrs. Koch Mary Mathilda, daughter of William and Leah Seltzer, was born Dec. 12, 1840 at McKeansburg, Schuylkill Co. Penn. She was united in marriage to Henry Edwin Koch March 1, 1866 at McKeansburg, where they resided until March 2, 1880, whence they moved to Carroll, Carroll Co. Iowa. In the spring of 1883 they came to Cedar County, Nebraska, locating eight miles east of Hartington, where they resided until Mrs. Koch’s recent illness. A little over a year ago, Mother Koch was taken ill by the formation of gall stones which culminated in cancer of the stomach. All that loving hands could do was done to relieve her of her sufferings and bring her back to health. During her entire illness she always looked on the bright side of life and bore her sufferings with patience. She was a kind and loving wife and mother, became a Christian in the early days and united with the Methodist church remaining a faithful member until she passed away Sept. 5, 1911, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. D.P. Sullivan. To this union were born eight children of whom one, Nettie Edith died in infancy, (1-15-1884). Those who remain to mourn her loss, are her husband and Mrs. D.P. Sullivan, Laurel, John W. and Robert F. of Hartington, Mrs. M.O. Housel, Leola, SD, Mrs. O.H. Kuhl, Glen Ullin, ND., Miss Margaret of Omaha, and Mrs. F.J. Morton, Laurel, and eleven grandchildren all of whom were at the funeral which was conducted by an old time friend and pastor of the family, Rev. C.H. Moore, assisted by the Rev. W.O. Romick at the Spring Valley Church, Sept. 8th. The remains were laid to rest in the Wynot Cemetery – Hartington News. *Husband Henry died 2-17-1918.
