Services were Sept. 25 at First Trinity Lutheran Church, Bloomfield, with Rev. Phillip Hannemann officiating. Burial was held in the Bloomfield cemetery. Pallbearers were Ronald Mays, Richard Mays, William Koertje, Robert Koertje, Kelly Nickels and Terry Nickels. Delbert H.W. Koertje was born August 2, 1920, to William and Dora (Wiese) Koertje at Bloomfield. He attended First Trinity Lutheran School, Bloomfield, and married Shirley Frahm April 25, 1945, at Bloomfield. He lived in the Bloomfield area all his life and started farming at age 13 with his father. In 1958, he started Koertje Feed and Produce in Bloomfield and until 1970. He later worked at Gurney's Nursery in Yankton, S.D., and operated Curtis Breeding Service. From 1977 to 1998, he worked at the Knox County Pig Co-operative. He was a member of First Trinity Lutheran Church, Bloomfield, where he served as an elder, and was involved in 4-H activities. Survivors include his wife, Shirley; daughters and their, spouses, Carol and Jim White, Yuma, Colo.; Sandy and Gary Lamprecht, Bloomfield; and Shelly and Dave Lauck, Pierce; a son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Denise Koertiel, Bloomfield; 16 grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren; sisters, Lila Hansen, Bloomfield; Mildred Nelson, Omaha; and Helen Mays, Doniphan; and brothers, Harlan, Bloomfield; and Loyal, North Glenn, Colo.
