This file was contributed for use in the NEGenWeb Archives by Carol Tramp Permission granted by: Rob Dump, Editor, Cedar County News ====================================================================== CEDAR COUNTY NEWS APRIL 22, 1926 JUDGE LAUVER DIES AT BLOOMFIELD FORMER CEDAR COUNTY JUDGE DIES; WAS PIONEER RESIDENT Funeral services were held at Bloomfield, Wednesday for Judge Ephraim LauVer, former Hartington resident and County Judge of Cedar County for two terms. He died on April 16, following a long illness. Mr. Lauver came to Cedar County in the early '80's. He settled near St. James where he farmed for several years. He later became a justice of the peace and moved to Hartington. He was elected county judge which office he held when Bloomfield was plotted. He left here at the end of his second term and went to Bloomfield where he opened the first hardware store. He later held office there. Judge Lauver was a thirty-second degree Mason and funeral services were held under the direction of that body. Services were held from the Congregational Church with Rev. J.A. Miller officiating.
