Visitation was Nov. 13, 1998 at the Wintz Funeral Home, Coleridge. Funeral services were Nov. 14, 1998, at Pilgrim Congregational U.C C., Coleridge, with Rev.John Gradwohl and Rev. Robert Neu officiating. Burial was in the Coleridge City Cemetery, Coleridge. Pallbearers were Roland House, Lyle Stewart, Mike Russell, Eric Pearson, Claude Hofeldt and Gary Neuhalfen. Rick was born Dec. 12, 1948, to Leslie W. 'Bud" and Vera P. (Avery) Leapley in Sioux City, Iowa. He married Vicky Meier Jan., 27, 1977 in Coleridge. Rick grew up and lived in Coleridge most of his life. Rick was a 1967 graduate of Coleridge High School. He used to work with his father at Leapley Electric; was a former maintenance supervisor at Park View Haven Nursing Home, and was a former manager of Farmer's Union Store, Coleridge. He was a gunsmith and a member of the Coleridge Police Department, and a former member of the Coleridge Rescue Squad. Rick was a member of the Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ, Coleridge, and a life member of the National Rifle Association. Survivors include: his wife, Vicky, Coleridge; a daughter and husband, Michelle and Erick Grissom, Milialani, Hawaii; a son, Marcus, California; a grandson, Quentin Grissom, a brother, Ronald Leaply, Winside; two aunts, Florence Tuomisto, Tallahassee, Fla.; and Esther Shope, Walnut Creek, Calif.; an uncle, Leo Williams, Montrose, Colo.; and neices and nephews. He was preceeded in death by his parents.
