Permission granted by: Rob Dump, Editor, Cedar County News ====================================================================== Wynot Tribune 11-30-1916 Passing of an Old Settler – taken from Hartington Herald Ferdinand Marks, commonly known as Farnam Marks, one of Cedar county oldest settlers, passed away in an Omaha hospital on Monday, Nov. 20th, after a long illness. The body was brought to this city, and funeral was held yesterday at the Methodist Church. Interment was at Wynot. The late Mr. Marks was born in Germany Oct. 13, 1853 and came to America in 1861, moving to Cedar County in 1870. He leaves to mourn their loss a wife and four children, three of whom were present at the funeral; Charles, Mary, and Arthur. He is also survived by three sisters, one in Oklahoma, one in Colorado and the other in Dakota. The late Ferdinand Marks was a diligent worker, a kind husband and a father and a good neighbor and his death will be greatly mourned.
