McCoy (PHOTO) HARTINGTON - Evelyn M. McCoy, 85, died April 6, 2001, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, S.D. Visitation was April 8 at the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington. Mass of Christian Burial was April 9 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington, with Rev. John Andrews officiating. Burial was in St. Michael's Cemetery, Hartington. Pallbearers were Bill Thoene, Brian Burbach, Francis Lammers, Mark Addison, Gerald Burbach and Lee Lammers. Honorary pallbearers were Sally Eisenhauer, Marilyn Thoene, Mary Burbach, Adeline Dreesen, Deb Addison, Reta Moser, Eunice Heimes, JoAnn Leise, Margaret Lammers and Margaret McFarland. Evelyn was born March 26, 1916, to Joesph and Margaret (Leffelman) Hahn in Hartington. She married William H. McCoy June 28, 1937, in East Bow. He died Oct. 2, 1985. She grew up and was raised in the Hartington area. After her marriage, she and her husband farmed in the Laurel area until moving to Hartington in the fall of 1973. She worked for ten years as a social aide and manager of the Senior Center in Hartington. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington; Christian Mothers; Ministry of Praise; Perpetual Adoration; Auxiliary member of the Legion of Mary; a lifetime member of the Hartington VFW Auxiliary Post #5283; and a member of the Hartington Senior Center. She made many hand-made quilts and had one for all of her children and granchildren. She loved playing cards and working in her yard. Survivors include four children, JoAnn and Larry Addision, South Sioux City; Karen and John Koch, Scottsbluff; Mary and Jim McCorkindale, Laurel; Bill and Sue McCoy, Colorado; ten grandchildren; four sisters and their husbands, Leona Johnson, Los Angeles, Calif.; Delores Armstrong, Los Angeles, Calif.; Mary and Ed Dreesen, Irene, S.D.; Gert Vonderheide, Hartington; three brothers and their wives, Harold and Luella Hahn, Omaha; Bill and Loretta Hahn, Hartington; Gene and Laurene Hahn, Lincoln. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Jim McCoy; granddaughter, Susie Lanser; and a brother, Albert Hahn.
