Mr. Mecklenberg was born in Bremain, Germany in 1861. Coming to America while a young man, he moved to Cedar county where he took an active part in community affairs for many years, his poor health during the last few years preventing him from the activity which his interests otherwise would have caused. For many years, Mr. Mecklenberg farmed near Hartington, following which he retired and lived in town. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World and the sons of Herman lodges and of the German Lutheran church. He is survived by a brother, Gus, who formerly lived in the county, but who now lives in Worthington, Minnesota, a sister in Germany, and a niece, Mrs. Dietrich Putter of Hartington. Gus Mecklenberg will arrive today and the body which is now at the Reifert undertaking parlors will be taken to Worthington for burial. MARCH 1, 1928 CEDAR COUNTY NEWS
