This file was contributed for use in the NEGenWeb Archives by Carol Tramp ====================================================================== THE CEDAR COUNTY NEWS - 11-24-1927 Hold Funeral for Mrs. Andrew Meng St. Helena Woman passed away at her home Last Friday Funeral services were held for Mrs. Matilda Meng last Sunday afternoon at the home and at the hall in St. Helena. Interment was in the St. Helena Cemetery. Rev E.L. Bentson, pastor of the Lutheran Church of Wynot, was in charge of the services. Mrs. Meng had been in ill health for several months, suffering from bronchial trouble. She passed away at her home in St. Helena at two o’clock, November 14, 1927. She was 76 years old. Mrs. Meng was born in Schleswig-Holstein, July 7th, 1849, in the same village and was confirmed in the same church as were Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Lawritzen of Hartington. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tillah Nagaard. In 1881 she was united in marriage to Andrew Meng and a few months later they came to America and settled in Cedar county near St. Helena. Her husband died in May of 1924. The surviving children are Mrs. J.C. Johnson, Sioux Falls, SD, Mrs. Norman Laraway, Eagan, SD., Peter Meng, Reliance, SD., and Max, Henry and Mrs. George Schmidt of St. Helena. A son, Rasmus, died in 1920.
