Services were Oct. 9 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Menominee, with Rev. Greg Benkowski officiating. Burial was in the Parish Cemetery. Pallbearers were Allan Mueller, John Mueller, Mark Mueller, Rick Mueller, Marty Schulte and Robert Schulte. Rose was born Jan. 15, 1919, to John and Martha (Albrecht) Mueller at home on the family farm three miles northeast of Menominee. She attended grade school at District 112, River View, about a quarter of a mile from home, and graduated from the eighth grade May 20, 1933. For her first year of high school, 1933-1934, Rose attended Fordyce High School, Fordyce. Then she transferred to Mount Marty, Yankton. Because the Meridian Bridge was a toll bridge, Rose became a "boarding" student until she graduated. She received her high school diploma from Mount Marty Academy May 25, 1937. Following high school, Rose graduated from St. Paul Business College, St. Paul, in December 1938. In 1941, Rose worked as a junior clerk in the Office of the Chief of Ordinance, Civilian Personnel Branch, Washington, D.C. From 1943 to 1945, she worked as an assistant clerk typist and clerk in the Adjutant General's Office in the Civilian Retention Records Section and in the Casualty Branch Military Personnel Division in the Pentagon. After moving back to the Midwest, Rose helped at the family farm for awhile then moved to Omaha. She studied to become a nurse's aide. After the death of her sister, Mary, in Omaha in 1992; Rose returned to the family farm. She moved to Sister James Nursing Home, Yankton, Oct. 20, 1993, where she resided until her death. She is a former member of Christ the King Parish, Omaha. From 1979-1992, she was a charter member of the Catholic Daughters of Americas Court Mary Immaculate No. 2181 in Omaha. She is a member of St. Boniface Parish, Menominee. She is survived by three sisters, Laurine Mueller, Yankton, S.D.; Esther (Cyril) Schulte, Springfield, S.D.; and Cleopha (John) Schulte, Downey, Calif.; 27 nieces and nephews; 57 great nieces and nephews; and 16 great- great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, three sisters, four nephews, one niece and one great-great nephew.
