Pantoja, 70, died August 12, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, S.D. Services were August 14 at the Hartington Nursing Center with Rev. Charles Duman officiating. Burial was at the Hartington City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Regal Cisneros, Chad Ball, Joey Crum, Richard Crum, Bob Merchant, and Marvin Diamond. Marcelino was born April 24, 1928, to Francisco Pantoja and Maria Hernandez in Dallas Texas. He was in the U.S. Army until 1962. He married Elizabeth F. Newby Sept. 1967, in Sioux City, Iowa. He worked as a foreman for Quality Meats in Sioux City, Iowa, for many years, retiring in 1990. He has been a resident of the Hartington Nursing Center since 1995. Survivors include: his ex-wife, Elizabeth Pantoja, Sioux City. Iowa; one daughter, Chantel Pantoja, Sioux City, Iowa; two grandchildren, Bianca and Christian Pantoja, Sioux City, Iowa; two sisters, Frances Garcia, Fort Worth, Texas; Mrs Victor (Lila) Mendez, Caldwell, Texas; seven step-daughters and four step-sons.
