Pinkelman HARTINGTON- Alphons J. Pinkelman, 81, died April 28, 2000, at Beverly Healthcare, Hartington. Visitation was May 1, 2000, at the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington. Mass of Christian Burial was May 2, 2000, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington, with Rev. William Sanderson officiating. Burial was in St. Michael's Cemetery, Hartington, with military services conducted by the Wynot American Legion Post #31. Pallbearers were Richard Pinkelman, Jerome Pinkelman, Tom Pinkelman, Stanley Pinkelman, Fred Thoene and Dennis Schumacher. Honorary pallbearers were his grandchildren. Alphons was born Jan. 28, 1919, to Frank and Anna (Schroeder) Pinkelman in St. James. He married Verna Guenther Aug. 10, 1949, in St. James. He grew up in the St. James area and farmed the home place until moving to Hartington in 1983. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII from July 1941-August 1943. He was a former member of Sts. Philip and James Catholic Church, St. James; a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington; and the Wynot American Legion Post #31. Survivors include his wife, Verna, Hartington; six children and spouses, Anita and Randy Larsen, Omaha; Daniel and Audrey Pinkelman, Bow Valley; Diane and Eric Christensen, Omaha; Karen and Ron Lammers, Hartington; Norman and Penny Pinkelman, Columbus; Harvey and Ann Pinkelman, Englewood, Colo.; twelve grandchildren; two sisters, Cecelia Pinkelman, Yankton, S.D.; and Mrs. Melvin (Alma) Thoene, Burwell; and a brother, Urban Pinkelman, Wynot.
