JAMES - Lawrence Pinkelman, 90, St. James, died Jan. 10, 2000, at Beverly Healthcare Hartington. Visitation was Jan. 12 at the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington. A vigil service was held later that evening at Sts. Philip and James Catholic Church, St. James. Mass of Christian Burial was Jan. 13 at Sts. Philip and James Catholic Church with Rev. Jay Kruse officiating. Burial was at Sts. Philip and James Cemetery, St. James. Pallbearers were Brian J. Pinkelman, Dennis Pinkelman, Douglas Pinkelman, Eric Pinkelman, Charles Pinkelman and Eugene Thoene. Lawrence was born Aug. 7, 1909, to Frank J. and Anna (Schroeder) Pinkelman Sr. in St. James. He married Mary Catherine Imoehl Feb. 20, 1936, in St. James. She died Jan. 7, 1987. Lawrence has lived in the St. James area his entire life where he was engaged in farming. He was a member of Sts. Philip and James Catholic Church. Survivors include one son and spouse, Richard and Mary Rose Pinkelman, Wynot; and one daughter, Helen Pinkelman, Wynot; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Alphons and wife, Verna Pinkelman, Hartington; and Urban Pinkelman, St. James; two sisters, Cecelia Pinkelman, St. James; and Mrs. Melvin (Alma) Thoene, Burwell. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, James; two brothers, Fritz and Frank Pinkelman; two sisters, Sister Mary James Pinkelman, Ursulan Order of Sisters; and Emma W. Pinkleman.
