He was found dead in his car which plunged off the road into a ditch. Funeral services for Mr. Puntney, 75, were held Wednedsay afternoon from the Congregational church here, with Rev. H. Niederwimmer of Coleridge officating. Burial was in the Hartington cemetery. Pallbearers were John Bruns, Art Bottolfson, Fred Meyer, Edward Morten, Earl Anderson and Peter Smith. Mr. Puntney is survived by seven sons, Edward and William of Laurel, Ralph of Randolph, Floyd of Belden, and Robert, Wendell and Raymond of Hartington; three daughters, Miss Viola Puntey of John Day, Ore., Mrs. Lucille Heitman of Belden, and Mrs. Helen Vock of Coleridge; three sisters, Mrs. Hattie Johnson of Farmville, Va., Mrs. Nellie Riibe of Hartington, and Mrs. Pearl Lanphear of Sioux City. The son of George and Mary Puntney, Willie was born February 17, 1878 at Marshalltown, Ia. He came to Nebraska as a youth and lived in the Waucapona community for two years. He later moved to East Bow where he lived for 43 years. Mr. Puntney and Miss Julia Madeline Wohlman were married in Hartington April 10, 1907. Mrs. Puntney died August 21, 1948. Mr. Puntney was a member of the Hartington I.O.O.F. lodge and the Congregational church. Relatives and friends from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Minor Riibe and Evelyn Manly of South Sioux City; George Hawkins, John I. Gamet, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lanphear, Lloyd Lanphear, Mrs. Will Riibe and Mr. and Mrs. Elroy Carlson and Bruce of Sioux City; Ray Eveleth and Don Hight of Murdo, S.D., Cobern Eveleth and Mrs. Laura Wildburger of Sturgis, S.D., Mrs. Hattie Johnson of Farmville, Va, and Miss Viola Puntey of John Day, Ore.
