This file was contributed for use in the NEGenWeb Archives by Permission granted by: Rob Dump, Editor, Cedar County News ====================================================================== Cedar County News Jan. 1966 Mrs. August Riibe Funeral Was Thursday Mrs. August Riibe, 90, of Hartington, died January 18, at the Coleridge Nursing Home, following an illness of several years and seriously ill the past 6 months, Funeral services were held Thursday, January 20, at 2:00 p.m. at the Smith-Wintz Funeral Chapel. Rev, Bernard W. Sayler officiated. Burial was in the Hartington City Cemetery. Pallbearers were George Foulk, Purl Mallatt, Carl Schager, Deward Erickson, Marvin Pedersen, and Martin Bottolfsen. Nellie Puntney was born, September 11, 1875, at Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Puntney. She came from Iowa to Cedar County in 1890 and resided in this area since that time. She was a member of the Methodist faith. She married August Riibe in September, 1892, at Hartington. Mr. Riibe preceeded her in death June 28, 1941, at Hartington. Survivors are: 4 sons--Louis G., Edward, and Alphonse, all of Hartington, and Minor of South Sioux City; 2 daughters--Mrs. Charles (Mazie) Swan and Mrs. Marie Jensen both of Hartington; a sister, Mrs. Harry Lanphear of Hartington; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.
