N. Schmidt passed away at their home near St. Helena, Thursday, Oct. 2nd, 1913, aged nine months and two days. Another sweet angel added to the great throng gone before. “Safely in the arms of Jesus”. God has plucked a bright and beautiful blossom from the home now so desolate. He alone can pour balm upon the crushed hearts left to mourn. Little Laurence Howard was an unusually bright and beautiful child, the pride and joy of fond parents and grandparents and the admiration of all who knew him. Healthy and vigorous, it seems hardly believable that harsh hands of disease could so quickly blight so sturdy and promising life. Everything that loving hand and skilled science could do could not stay the hand of the grim reaper and the slender thread of life was snapped asunder. The holy joy to the bereaved parents and grandparents is knowing that beautiful angel eyes are now watching and waiting for the coming of loved ones. He is watching the portal and will receive them when life’s dark day is over with all tears are washed away. Tender and loving sympathy is extended to the stricken parents, grandparents and other relatives from neighbors and friends. Laurence Howard is not dead but has been transported from the care and troubles of earth, and now stands at the gates beckoning loved ones to join him when life’s great journey is finished. The funeral services were held at the church in St. Helena Saturday morning at nine o’clock, being conducted by Rev. F.X. Korte. Card of thanks We desire to extend our heartfelt thanks to the neighbors and friends who so thoughtfully and kindly administered aid and sympathy to our recently and greatly suffered loss of our only child. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Schmidt.
