Funeral services will be March 2 at St. James Catholic Church, LeMars with Rev. Richard Ries presiding. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Remsen, Iowa. The Remsen V.F.W. will conduct Military Graveside Honors. John was born March 28, 1928, on a farm near Remsen, the son of John P. and Kate (Ruba) Schreiner. He was raised in the Remsen area and attended St. Mary's Catholic School. He served with the U.S, Army during the Korean Conflict from January 1951 to October 1952. During that time, John spent 13 months overseas in Korea. He married Laura Vondrak Feb. 8, 1958, at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Sioux City, Iowa. The couple farmed for many years in the Remsen area until their retirement. In 1996, they moved to Le Mars. Mr. Schreiner was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Le Mars, a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Order of Foresters in Remsen. Survivors include his wife Laura, Le Mars; a daughter and her husband, Janet and Tony Wuebben, Hartington; three sons, Steve and Marie Schreiner, Le Mars, Iowa; Bill and Shannan Schreiner, Remsen, lowa;and Ron and Lila Schreiner, Sioux Center, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; two brothers, Roland and Eleanor Schreiner, Ireton, Iowa, and Martin and Marie Schreiner, Maurice, Iowa; a sister, Elizabeth and Ernest Kotalik, South Sioux City, and several nieces and nephews.
