Schumacher, 90, died Nov. 12,1998, at his residence in Crofton. Visitation was Nov. 13 at the Wintz Funeral Home, Crofton. Funeral services were held Nov.14 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Crofton, with Rev. Bob English officiating. Burial was in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Crofton. Pallbearers were grandsons, Thomas Osmond, Daniel Osmond, David Osmond, Matthew Osmond, Brandon Schumacher, Brian Schumacher, Michael Schumacher, Steven Schumacher, and Neil Schumacher. Honorary pallbearers were granddaughters, Tina, Ruth, Anna Marie, Renee, Sarah, Catlin and Christina Schumacher; Amy, Jennifer and Kayla Jones; and Theresa Osmond. Peter was born Oct. 7. 1908, to John and Anna (Ausdemore) Schumacher in Crofton. He married Hildegard Gentrup May 12, 1948, in Crofton. He grew up southwest of Crofton. After his marriage he farmed four miles west of Crofton. He retired in 1971 and moved into Crofton. He did some carpenter work for several years. Peter was a member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Crofton, and the Catholic Order of Foresters. Survivors include his wife, Hilda, Crofton; four sons and their spouses, Allan and Sharon Schumacher, Omaha; Roland and Diane Schumacher, Norfolk; Gary Schumacher, Lincoln; James and Susan Schumacher, Omaha; two daughters and their spouses, Sandra and Patrick Osmond, Dunning; and Joan and Clayton Jones, Omaha, a sister, Bertha Meyer, Norfolk; 20 grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Bruce; an infant daughter, Mary; seven brothers, John, Anton, Herman, Henry, Fritz, Gregory and Nick Schumacher; and five sisters, Anna Schieffer, Theresa Jansen, Catherine Steffen, Carthina Schmidt and Frances Lenhoff.
