This file was contributed for use in the NEGenWeb Archives by Carol Tramp Permission granted by: Rob Dump, Editor, Cedar County News ====================================================================== THE WYNOT TRIBUNE JANUARY 7, 1943 FUNERAL SERVICES ARE HELD THURSDAY FOR EDWARD SMITH Wynot - Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church here Thursday afternoon for Edward Smith, 80, who died Tuesday January 5, at the Yankton hospital after about a six month illness. He was taken to the hospital 11 days prior to this death. Rev. Frank Jackson officiated. Pallbearers were William Schaller, Lawrence Hunnekens, B.A. Kirchmeier, Henry Klug, Lloyd Jones and Charles Newman. Burial was in the Wynot cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home. Mr. Smith was born January 29, 1862 at Tafton, Wisc., and would have been 81 years of age if he had lived until the 29th of this month. He moved to South Dakota when he was a young man and in 1883 he was married to Miss Lillian Sprague who died in 1928. Mr. Smith had spent the last 15 years at Irene, SD. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Grace Hart of San Bernadino, Calif, and Mrs. Addie Hayes of Rapid City, SD., three sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Nora Knight, Mrs. Viola Reid, Miss Addie Smith, and Merritt Smith all of Wynot, and Merton Smith of Donnelly, Minn.
