S.C. SORENSEN ARE HELD IN WYNOT Wynot -- Funeral services for Mrs. S.C. (Elizabeth) Sorensen, 87, lifelong resident of Cedar County, were held Saturday morning at Sacred Heart Catholic Church here. Father Eugene Marwin officiated at the requiem high mass. Mrs. Sorensen died last Thursday morning at Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton following a few days illness. Burial was in the parish cemetery under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home. Pallbearers were six grandsons, George Bolenbaugh, David Lammers, Kenneth True, Gene Hancer, Donald Koch, and Anthony McGowen. Honorary pallbearers were Mrs. John Hochstein, Mrs. John Wuebbe, Mrs. Ted Rieken, Mrs. Fred Boeckman, Mrs. Ed Backman, and Mrs. Joe Burbach, Sr. Mrs. Sorensen is survived by eight children, Mrs. Alex (Helen) Koch, and Mrs. Louis (Ida) Lammers of Hartington, Chris Sorensen and Mrs. John (Kathryn) Hendriks of Sioux City; Mrs. Harry (Marie) Gartner of Caldwell, Ida., Mrs. Ivan (Minnie) Bolenbaugh of Kansas City, Mo; M/Sgt. A.J. Sorensen of Riverside, Cal., and Mrs. H.F. (Clara) True of Omaha; 42 grandchildren, 88 great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Tony Schmucker of Nazreth, Tex., also survives. Her husband who died in 1954 and one son preceded her in death. Elizabeth Helen Bruening, daughter of Conrad and Mary Bruening was born November 1, 1873 at Constance. She married S.C. Sorensen November 8, 1892 at Constance. They were the first couple to be married at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Constance. Mr. and Mrs. Sorensen moved to Wynot in 1940. Mrs. Sorensen was a member of the Christian mothers and Sacred Heart Altar Society. Attending the funeral from a distance were Mrs. H.J. Sorensen of Iowa city, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Bolenbaugh and family of Kansas City, Mr. and Mrs. H.F. True and family of Omaha, Mrs. Harry Gartner of Caldwell, Ida., Chris Sorensen, Mrs. George Hossack, and Mrs. John Hendriks of Sioux city, and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Koch of Red Bluff, Cal.
