Ben Pinkelman, 19 rural Coleridge, and Carmella Toth, 32, Randolph, were killed in the 5:20 p.m. accident, which occured on a gravel road two miles south and four miles west of Randolph. Both victims died at the scene, law enforcement officials say. Pinkelman, who was attending Northeast Community College at the time of the accident, was driving north and Toth was headed south when their two vehicles met at the crest of a hill. Five passengers, including Toth's two children, were transported to Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk where they were treated after the accident. Passengers in the Toth vehicle were: Larissa Toth, 3, and her sister, KaLinda Toth, 11, a family friend, Andrew Anderson, 12, was also in the Vehicle. Pinkelman, a first year diesel technology student at Northeast Community College, was traveling with two friends, Melissa Walters, 18, Chambers; and Martin Libby, 20, Norfolk. All Passengers were treated and later released. Pinkelman, the son of Keevin and Lorraine Pinkelman, rural Coleridge, was a 1998 Coleridge High School graduate. He was very active in Cedar County 4-H and at the Cedar County Fair. Toth was returning from a youth activity at St. John's Lutheran Church in Randolph when the accident occured. She had served as a coordinator for the church's nursery program. Funeral services for Pinkelman were held Saturday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartington.
