Services were Dec. 21, at St. Frances Catholic Church, with the Rev. Ron Battiato officiating. Burial was in the St. Frances Cemetery. Vernon, son of Lewis and Lauara (Koeppe) Viergutz, was born March 18, 1921, in Randolph. He graduated from Randolph High School in 1938. Following graduation, he worked at the Sherwood Meat Market. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1942-45 during World War II. He married Frances C. Stegge Jan. 12, 1943, at Lowry Field, Colo. He began work at the First State Bank Jan. 13, 1952. He was employed at the bank for 46 years, serving as bank president 38 years. Survivors include: two daughters and their husbands, Susan and Dennis Kollars, Randolph; and Patricia and Frederick Verzani, Helena, Mont.; two sons and their wives, Dan and Debora, Alamosa, Colo.; and Mark and Julia, Creede, Colo.; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law.
