Whitehorn Aged Woman Dies at Home of Son Here ---------- Funeral services were held at Holy Trinity Catholic church here Saturday morning for Mrs. Margaret Whitehorn, 81, who died June 2 [1954] at the home of her son, Francis. She had been ill two days and death was caused by heart failure. Rev. Clement Bracht of Dixon officiated at the requiem mass and burial was in St. Michael's cemetery under the direction of Wintz Mortuary. Pallbearers were four grandsons, Don Kressig, Jim Kressig, Gerald Burgel and Ralph Whitehorn, and Louis Hahne and Cyril Lentz. Mrs. Whitehorn is survived by a son, Francis, of Hartington; a daughter, Mrs. Matt Burgel of Coleridge; a brother, Curney Flynn of Mapleton, Ia.; three sisters, Mrs. Isabelle Dyson of Hetinger, N.D., Mrs. Kate Clinton of ute, Ia., and Mrs. Nellie Ryan of Omaha; and 13 grandchildren. The daughter of Cornelius and Elizabeth Flynn, Margaret was born at Dunlap, Ia., September 1, 1872. She was married to Fred J. Whitehorn at Onawa, Ia., in 1905. The lived at Smithland, Ia., before coming to Cedar county 42 years ago. They farmed in the Hartington community until eleven years ago when they retired and moved to town. Mr. Whitehorn died November 30, 1953, and since that time Mrs. Whitehorn had made her home with her son, Francis. Members of the Christian Mothers served as honorary pallbearers. They were Mrs. Anna Foulk, Mrs. Charles Lux, Mrs. Frank Dickes, Mrs. Walter Dresden, Mrs. Margaret Hahn and Mrs. Fred Dreesen. JUNE 1954 CEDAR COUNTY NEWS
