Wiedenfeld HARTINGTON - Dorothy M. Wiedenfeld, 72, died March 25, 1999, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, S.D. Visitation was March 28 at the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington. Mass of Christian Burial was held March 29 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington, with Rev. William Sanderson officiating. Burial was in St. Michael's Cemetery, Hartington. Pallbearers were Chris Wiedenfeld, Dan Wiedenfeld, Terry Wiedenfeld, Brett Wiedenfeld, Jeff Guenther, Jason Trenhaile, Bryan Tucker and Pat Muhs. Honorary pallbearers were Sue Neuhalfen, Rita Leader, Emmalyn Seim, JoAnn Nelson, Leona Schindler, Hilaria Kollars, Doris Morten, Betty Andresen, Janice Olsen, Kay Gubbels and Kathryn Janssen. Dorothy was born Dec. 27, 1926, to Ernest C. and Ethel Mae (Coleman) Steffen in Hartington. She married Raymond P. Wiedenfeld July 16, 1946, in Hartington. He died March 12, 1999. Dorothy grew up southeast of Hartington and graduated from Hartington High School in 1944. She received her teaching certificate from Wayne State College. She taught school at Sunny Hill and at St. Peter's school in rural Hartington. She and her husband farmed east of Hartington until they retired in 1985. In the early 1970s, she returned to Wayne State College to further her education. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of America. She was a past grand regent of the CD of A. She was also a member of the Sunny Circle Club and the Newcastle American Legion Auxiliary. Former memberships include Extension Club and The Nebraska Arts Association. She was 4-H Leader and CCD teacher at St. Peter's Church, Newcastle. She owned and operated Flowers by Dorothy for the past few years. Survivors include four children and their spouses, Jerry and Connie Wiedenfeld, Hartington; Sharon and Richard Boehmer, Newcastle; Carol and Ken Guenther, Yankton, S.D.; Mark and Patty Wiedenfeld, Hartington 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Alfred Steffen, Osage Beach, Mo.
