Mrs. Wiggens was unfortunate in her marriage, we are told, and her husband eloped with another woman leaving his wife to support four small children. She nobly did her best, working very hard for her loved ones until sickness compelled her to give up the unequal struggle and carried her to her eternal rest. A gentleman from the neighborhood stated Tuesday that two of the children lay at death's door. Surely our hearts go out in sympathy to the afflicted ones. 6 JANUARY 1899 HARTINGTON HERALD (CEDAR COUNTY NEWS) Page 1, Column 3
