A memorial service will be April 8 at 1:30 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, Elkhorn, with Rev. Mark Fry officiating. Pallbearers will be Bobby Benak, Kevin Hochstein, Brent Mareno, Michael Sandfort, Tonya Sandfort, Keith Wingender, Kenneth Wingender and Chris Wingender. Berniece was born June 23, 1944, in Hartington. She was a supervisor at H&R Block. Survivors include: her husband, H. Bruce Wingender, Omaha; her parents, Elmer and Cleone Hansen, Hartington; a daughter, Tonya and her husband, Michael Sandfort, Brock; three sons, Keith Wingender, Omaha; Kenneth and Sandra Wingender, Omaha; and Robert and Katy Wingender, Omaha; two sisters, Karen and Don Bonneau, Wash.; and Kristi and Kevin Hochstein, Hartington; a brother, Robert and Nancy Hansen, Coleridge; grandmother, Ollie Nordby, Hartington; nephew, Chris Wingender, Elkhorn; sister-in- law, Susan Benak, Omaha; and extended family, James Gundersen, Omaha.
