Visitation was Nov. 23 at Wintz Funeral Home, Coleridge, with a prayer service held later that evening at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Coleridge. Services are Nov. 24 at 10:30 a.m., at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Norman Sulaica officiating. Burial will be held at the Lawn Ridge Cemetery, Coleridge. Pallbearers are Dan Wolfe, Joe Wolfe, Justin Wolfe, Nick Wolfe, Matt Wolfe and Michael Wolfe. Honorary pallbearers are all friends and family that loved and supported Joan. Joan was born Nov. 16, 1929, to Hartlee and Martha (Christensen) Smith in Coleridge. She married LeRoy H. Wolfe March 26, 1951, in Coleridge. She grew up in the Coleridge area and graduated from Hartington High School as valedictorian. She worked full-time at the Cedar County Extension office from 1947 - May 1951. She then married and started a family. She began working again in November 1974 and continued until her illness--serving for 25 years. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Willing Workers Club, the Pearl Creek community since March 1953 with perfect attendance, and the Town and Country Squares dance club and Laurel Plus-Mixers square dance club. She was currently association secretary-treasurer of the Laurel Women's Bowling Association. She participated in state bowling tournaments for 29 years and the national bowling tournament one year. She was a member of and held various offices in the Coleridge Women's Bowling League since 1961. She was also a member of and had held offices in Immanuel Lutheran Church Women and Peace Circle. She is survived by her husband, LeRoy, Coleridge; four sons and spouses, Greg and Diane Wolfe, Indianola; Terry and Karen Wolfe, Norfolk; Jeff and Carol Wolfe, Hartington; and Tim and Kim Wolfe, Richmond, Va.; nine grandsons and two granddaughters; and one sister, Patty Dirks, Omaha. She was preceded in death by her parents.
