Saturday, after a brief illness due to ailments attendant to old age. Mrs. Egan had not enjoyed good health for the past few years and her decline was very gradual. The remains were brought to Schuyler Monday morning and the funeral rites conducted at St. Augustine’s Catholic church at ten o’clock. Father J.S. Dobson being the celebrant of the requiem mass. Interment was made in the Holy Cross cemetery north of Schuyler, where rest the remains of the husband who died in 1903, and two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Thom and Miss Myrtle Egan and two sons, John Egan and William Egan. Eight of the grandsons, Garrett Waters Jr., Edward Waters Jr., Nicholas Beckius, Elmer Beckius, Peter Beckius Jr., Edward Egan Jr., William Egan and Clarence Egan acted as pallbearers. The services were attended by a large number of friends who came from far and near to pay their last tribute of respect to the memory of one whom they came to know as a lady of much worth. Katheryn Doyle was born in County Galloway, Ireland on March 13, 1844 and passed away at Monroe, Nebraska t the age of 77 years, 8 months and 2 days. She came to America when she was twelve years of age and became a resident of Sterling, Ill. She was united in marriage to Thomas Egan at Sterling Ill, on June 6 1864. To this union were born twelve children, six of who survive the parents. They are Mrs. Edward Waters of Colfax county, Mrs. Matt Beckius of Schuyler, Mrs. Peter Beckius of Butler county, Thomas Egan of Albion, James Egan of Hudson, Colorado, and Patrick Egan of Monroe, NE. The deceased is also survived by thirty-three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Egan resided at Sterling (Ill, Whiteside County) until they came to Nebraska and settled on a farm twelve miles north of Schuyler. After the death of her husband, Mrs. Egan made her home with her son, (Patrick) living for a while on the old home place, then of a farm near Leigh and later on a farm near Monroe. Mrs. Egan was very well and very favorably known in her home community. She was a lady who every interest and devotion were centered in her home. Her friends and neighbors knew her as a lady of much worth. In the home she was the ideal wife and mother. Her life was filled with many deeds of kindness and devotion and sacrifice in behalf of those who were near and dear to her with inseparable ties of affection.
