St. Anthony Church, St. Charles, Ne Death records- Ortmeier Heritage Book 2010
Ferdinand John Ortmeier was born Mar. 7, 1834. He was baptized on July 10, 
1834 in Waldersloh Westphalia, Germany. His sponsors were Ferdinand Ortmeier 
and Gertrude Vennemeier. Ferdinand John was the son of Anton and Anna Maria 
Christina (Dumme) Ortmeier. His parents were farmers in Bentler, West Germany.
On September 22, !858 he married Anna Maria Luening. Wtnesses to the marriage 
were Anton Kockenkemper and Jacob Luening.
Ferdinand John and Anna Maria lived at Bauernschaft, # 37, Bentler, West 
Germany. To make a better living the family came to America in 1884 and 
settled in the Catholic vicinity of St. Charles Township near West Point, 
Nebraska.
Ferdinand John passed away June 11, 1911 at the age of 77 years and was buried 
in St. Anthony's Church Cemetery. They had 11 children: Henry, Christina Mary, 
Catherine Mary,Casper, Herman, Bernard, Elizabeth (Justina, Maria. Theresa, 
Maximillian, Johann Ortmeier.
