She was the daughter of Heinrick Luening. Her parents were married through the mail and were farmers in Mastholte, Germany. Anna married Ferdinand Ortmeier on September 22, 1858. Witnesses to the marriage were Anton Kockenkemper and Jacob Luening. Ferdinand and Maria lived at Bauernschaft #37, Bentler, West Germany. To make a better living, the family came to America and settled in the Catholic vicinity of St. Charles Township near West Point, Nebraska. Ferdinand and Maria believed in God and raised their children in the Catholic church. Anna Maria received the last sacraments before she passed away on November 19, 1918 in Randolf, Nebraska. She was buried in St. Anthony's Church Cemetery. She was a member of the Christian Mothers of St. Anthony's Church.
