Robert D. Brestel, 82, of Callaway, died Saturday, July 23, 2011, at his home 
in Callaway surrounded by his loving family. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, July 28, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at St. 
Boniface Catholic Church, 202 S. Morgan Ave in Callaway with the Rev. Antony 
Thekkekara officiating.
 
Burial will be with Military Honors in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Callaway. 

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 27, 2011, from 6-7 p.m. with Rosary at 
7 p.m., all at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Callaway.
 
He was born Sept. 19, 1928, at Arnold to Oscar and Mary (Thinnes) Brestel.   
  
Survivors include his wife, Joyce of Callaway; children, Mike (Jan) Brestel of 
Maxwell, Rhonda (Joe) Haas of Lincoln, Ron (Brenda Sutton) Brestel of Lincoln, 
Rod (Janel) Brestel of Callaway, Steve (Diane) Brestel of Lincoln, Teresa 
(Harry Starks) of Springfield, Jim (Nancy) Brestel of Lincoln and Doug 
(Michelle) Brestel of Callaway; grandchildren, Jennifer (Chad) Baney, Ann 
(Cory) Knafla, Mandy and Jordan Haas, Kayla (James) Bandy, Sara Brestel, Tyler 
Hottovy, Jessica Brestel, Samantha, Sean, Seth and Sabrina Starks, Chad 
(Emily) McGuire, Hope, Donny, Bobby and Megan McGuire, Brianne and Brooke 
Brestel, Jaide and Denton Votaw, Alex, Brady and Tyra Brestel; 16 great-
grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of 
friends. 

Also surviving is a sister, Isabelle McCandless of Merna; brothers, Roger 
(Shirley) Brestel of Cochise, Ariz., Ken (Darla) Brestel of Ogallala, Dick 
(Nadine) Brestel of Guthrie, Okla.; brother-in-law, Irvin (Lillian) Whipple of 
Callaway and sisters-in-law, Mary Hall of Bellevue and Mary Jane Brestel of 
Gothenburg. 

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Mary Brestel; sister, 
Elizabeth Mae Brestel; brother, Eugene Brestel; grandson, Joshua Steven 
Brestel and a great-grandson, David Baney.
