Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Iverson’s Funeral Home in Broken Bow. Burial will be held at Broken Bow Cemetery in Broken Bow. Visitation will be Monday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Duane is survived by his beloved wife, Lois; daughter Cyndi (Joe) Clarke of Central City; son Eric (Karmajo) Hill, of Lexington; two grandsons, Adam (Misty) Clarke of Central City and Skylar Hill and his special friend, Tanner Richards of Hayes Center; four granddaughters, Kacie (Clarke) and her husband, Jerry Dillon, of Phoenix, Ariz., Morgan Clarke of Lincoln, Dallas (Hill) and her husband, Matt Zimbelman of Lexington and Aryka Hill and her fiance, Alex Van Horn, of Memphis, Tenn.; three great-grandsons, Lane, Brock and Aidan Clarke and special great-grandsons, Evan and Ethan Van Horn; great granddaughter, Kiyonna Luella Clarke, due the latter part of June; a brother, Donald Hill of Broken Bow; sister Donna Jean (Duane) Beck of Oconto; brother- in-law and his wife, Richard and Marjorie McMurtry, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his son, Monte Ray; his parents, Carroll and Madge Hill; sister-in-law, Shirley Hill; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roy and Florence McMurtry, and brother-in-law and wife, Ray and Mary McMurtry. He was born on Sept. 29, 1932 in Callaway to Carroll W. and Madge Marie (Heitz) Hill. He was united in marriage to Lois (McMurtry) on Nov. 29, 1953 in Broken Bow. They were blessed with three children, Cynthia Marie, Monte Ray, who passed away in infancy and Eric Eugene. During his lifetime he enjoyed raising cattle and quarter horses. He was also a member of the National Guard, BPO Elks and the United Methodist Church. He has also been a friend and mentor to many young people.
