Lord, 94, of Callaway, formerly of McCool Junction, died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009, at Callaway District Hospital. A service to celebrate his life will be held Monday, Dec. 14, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Callaway with the Rev. Jerry Schwarz officiating.   Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be held that same afternoon at 3:00 p.m. at the Greenwood Cemetery at York with the Rev. Pat Norris officiating.  Dwight Lee Lord was born Oct. 5, 1915 in McCool Junction, the eldest son of R.F. and Gladys (Bellows) Lord. He attended the University of Nebraska, graduating in January 1938. He was united in marriage to Doris Turner on Jan. 30, 1938. She preceded him in death April 7, 1997. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, worked in a defense plant and taught school in Dixon, Ill., managed grain elevators in McCool Junction and Callaway and farmed near McCool.   He retired from the Callaway Co-op Elevator in 1977 and pursued the activity of woodworking, making redwood clocks, lamps and tables. Those left to honor his memory are sons Robert (Lea) Lord of Puyallup, Wash., Phillip Lord of Broken Bow and his fiancée Ruth Dahl of North Platte; daughters, Kay (Kurt) Kuehnhackl of Davenport, Iowa, Georgia (Jim) Thompson of Minnetonka, Minn.; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth (Jeanne) Lord of Escondido, Calif., Roland (Mildred) Lord of Elkhorn and two sisters, Dorothy Hendricks of McCool Junction and Gladys Mae (Glenn) Phillips of Benedict.  Dwight was preceded in death by parents, two brothers and his wife.     File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ne/custer/obits/l/lord431gob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/nefiles/ File size: 2.3 Kb
