Funeral services were held Sunday, Rev. Lewis of the Emerson Lutheran church officiating. Mary Holsworth was born in Pittsburg, Pa., November 30, 1843. She spent her girlhood in Watertown, Wis. Was married to William Holsworth August 19, 1867, and came to Omaha where they lived one year and in 1868 moved onto the homestead five miles southwest of Homer, where she continuously resided until her death. Mr. Holsworth passed to the great beyond March 4, 1908. There was born to them eleven children, eight of whom survive--Charles Holsworth, Mrs. William Spear, Mrs Ed Pilgrim, Tom Holsworth, Misses Clara, Lizzie and Tillie and Ben Holsworth, Will Holsworth, another son, was killed in an auto accident December 3, 1914. Twin babies died in their infancy. Mrs Holsworth was a quiet, unassuming woman who went about very little but counted her friends by the score. Those who knew her best loved her best. She saw some of the real pioneer days when she did not know if she would live to see another day, for the Indians were not to be trusted then. Mr. Holsworth was teaching school which left her alone a good part of the time. She has often told us of the anxious days and nights spent alone and we have wondered if we couldhave lived through half so much and come to the serene, lovable old age she did.
