Her death was the result of a complication of diseases, and was entirely unexpected until the last few days of her life. The most of her children were with her at the last and did all in their power to comfort her as the sad messenger of death approached. Deceased had been a faithful member of the Methodist church during her long residence in Dakota county, and her mite was cheerfully given to aid the cause of christianity. The funeral services were held from the M E church in this place Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock and were conducted by Rev G E Von Hagen, after which the remains were shipped to Allen, Nebr., where they were deposited in the Springbank cemetery. Mary J Triggs was born in Henry County, Iowa, Jan 11, 1841, and died in Dakota City, Nebr, Aug 1, 1908, aged 67 years, 6 months and 20 days. She removed with her parents to Jefferson Co. Iowa, when four years of age. In 1860 she was married to Robert B Caulk. Of this union two children, Clara M, (deceased), and Robert C, who lives in Allen, Nebr. were born. In 1862 her husband was killed in the defense of his country's honor. She was united in marriage to Eli F Triggs in 1866, and to this union eight children were born; five boys and three girls: Elsworth, of Cherokee, Iowa, Owen, of Allen, Ernest J, and William of this place; and Lagrand, (deceased;) Mrs Loah Benton, of Sioux City, Mae Miles and Lucy Ohmit of this city. With her husband and family she moved to Dakota City, Nebr, in 1868 and a year later the family moved to Dixon Co, Nebr, returning to Dakota City in 1890, where she has resided ever since. Her second husband preceded her to the other world in 1891. Besides the numerous relatives, Mrs Triggs leaves a host of friends who sincerely mourn her death. The children desire to extend their thanks to those who so kindly assisted during the illness and burial of their mother.
