Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Cozad Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad. Zola was born May 13, 1923 at Ansley, to D.L. and Fern (Perry) Stahl; the second of four children, Gerald was the eldest, with Norwin and Marylin to follow. She graduated from Ansley High School and went on to attend Kearney State College where she attained a master’s degree in math and child psychology. On July 15, 1943, Zola married Milton Vernard Adams. The couple made their home in Cozad. Following his discharge from WWII, Milton joined the post office as a route carrier and was known as the whistling postman. He later became a rural route carrier. Zola served as a schoolteacher for 35 years; the last of which, were spent teaching mentally challenged children. Mr. Adams preceded Zola in death in 1975. In 1988, Zola moved to Broken Bow to care for her ailing mother. In 1995 she moved to Kearney, where she lived until 2004; when she moved to Lincoln to be closer to family. In addition to her husband, Zola was preceded in death by her parents, D.L. and Fern Stahl; and two brothers, Gerald and Norwin Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Kaye (Ronald) Sullivan of Herington, Kan., Debra Jo (Robert) Herbek of Lincoln; seven grandchildren, Dustin, Matt, Kentin, Cassie, Tag, Bart and Briggs; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Marylin Amsberry of Ansley and many nieces and nephews.
