Funeral mass will be Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 10 a.m. at the St. Ann’s Catholic Church, in Lexington, with Father Paul Colling officiating. Visitation was Friday, May 14 at Elwood Funeral Home, Elwood. Rosary was Friday, May 14 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, in Lexington. Interment will be at St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery in Lexington. Military rites to be given by American Legion Post No. 290 of Elwood. He was born on July 6, 1947, at Lexington, to Allie and Betty J. (Snider) Atterberry and attended Lexington High School, graduating with the Class of 1965. He went on to McCook Junior College, McCook, and received his associate’s degree. He was drafted into the U.S. Marines and served from 1969 to 1971. After his discharge from service, he went back to school at Kearney State College and graduated in 1975 with his business degree. He worked for Banks Clothing, at Lexington, in retail sales for many years. He married Maria M. Bliven on Oct. 21, 1977 at Ft. Pierre, S. D. They lived in Lexington until 1998. They would then make their home in Elwood. In 2003, he went to work for Walmart, in Lexington. He was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, in Lexington. He was a member and current Commander for the American Legion Post No. 290 of Elwood. He is survived by his wife, Maria Atterberry, of Elwood; daughters, Danielle (Benjamin) Clouse of Maxwell, Alison Atterberry of Kearney, Nicole Atterberry of Elwood, Megan (Wayco) Oaklund of Bertrand and five grandchildren, Cala and Kianna Clouse, Brielle and Alyssa Schutz and Carina Atterberry. He is preceded in death by parents, and sister Judy Brummet of Miltonvale, Kan.
