Bacon, 99, of Central City, formerly of Lexington and North Platte, died at Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital in Central City on Monday, March 15, 2010. Graveside memorial services will be Friday, April 9, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell with Chaplain Norval Holtmeier officiating.  Lloyd was born on June 26, 1910, on a farm near Overton to Noel and Mae (Holsclaw) Bacon. He graduated from Overton High School in 1927 and moved that year with his family to a farm northeast of Lexington where he worked for two years until attending Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln. There he met Naomi Metcalf and they were married on October 24, 1932, in Lyons. They lived on a farm near Lexington for seven years. They then moved into Lexington in 1939 where he owned and operated two gasoline stations. Lloyd joined the Army in 1942 and served as a 1st Lieutenant until September, 1946. During this time, he was an engineer in the South Pacific and Japan. He was associated with the Farmers State Bank of Lexington from 1947 until 1963, when he and his brother, Harold, founded the North Platte State Bank. He was president there until he returned to Lexington in 1969 to become president of the Farmers State Bank. He retired for the first time in 1973. After six weeks of retirement, he returned to his beloved farming and ran a pay loader at Robert’s Feed Yard where he kept his cattle. He retired for the second time in 1991. Lloyd moved to Central City in 2000.  Lloyd was active in church, business, and civic organizations such as the school board, city council, the Chamber of Commerce, fair board, Rotary Club, Nebraska Bankers Association, and the VFW.  Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Carole (Gary) Webster of Central City; two grandsons, Brandon Webster and fiancée Gretchen Carlson of Dodge City, Kan., and Justin (Darcie) Webster of Omaha; three great grandchildren, Ethan, Jadon, and McKenzie Webster; one sister, Florence Anderson of Lexington; one brother, Harold (Ada) Bacon of Gulfport, Miss., and many nieces and nephews and their families.  Preceding Lloyd in death were his wife in 1999; infant grandsons, Jason and Brent Webster; brother, Carl E.
