The family has honored Nova’s wishes that her body be cremated. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Lexington Christian Church with Pastor Kyron C. BeDunnah officiating. Inurnment will be at 2:00 p.m. at Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell. There will be no visitation. She was born July 19, 1931, at Lexington, to John Hardy and Myrl Sylvia (Hine) Greathouse. Nova attended school at Lexington. She was united in marriage to Richard Lee Workman on June 12, 1951 at Lexington. Richard preceded her in death on Nov. 1, 1990. She then found love again and was united in marriage to Richard W. Barmore on May 1, 2004 at Lexington. He too preceded her in death on Sept. 3, 2007. Nova was always a hard worker and a wonderful community-minded person. She worked at Monroe Auto in Cozad, owned and operated Workman’s Residential Care Facility, the Southside Market and Green Valley Motel. She was the activities assistant at Plum Creek Care Center for several years and even made bathing suits for the Miss America Pageant. She attended Lexington Christian Church, was a member of the Tri-County Hospital Auxiliary, Lexington Chamber of Commerce Diplomats and the Lexington Soroptimist Club. Nova was a “people person” and so enjoyed volunteering at the Grand Generation Center. She was on the steering committee and was instrumental in bringing the Labor Day Antique Extravaganza to Lexington, which is enjoyed by many folks to this day. She absolutely loved to volunteer, but her most precious moments were spent with her family and friends. Survivors include two daughters, Alice (Leo) Hinkle of Beaver City, Sondra (Layne) Becker of Lexington, two stepsons, Rick (Mary) Barmore of Lexington, David (Deb) Barmore of Omaha; one stepdaughter: Kerry (Thomas) Madigan of Lakewood, Colo.; one brother, Russell Greathouse of Lexington; six grandchildren, Brian and Scott Hinkle of Chicago, Ill.; Fletcher and Jillian Becker of Lexington; Richie Workman of Rushville, Jennifer Workman of Fort Collins, Colo., step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister-in- law, Naomi Workman of Lexington as well as nieces; Jane and John Kirby, Bobbie and Wayne Hubbard, and Nancy and Johnnie Flack and one nephew, Russell “Hardy” (Tina) Greathouse of Lexington. Nova was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; one son, Charles in 1997 and a sister-in-law, Helen.
