Services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at the American Lutheran Church in Cozad with Pastor Terry Pool officiating. Inurnment was in the Cozad Cemetery with military honors. Visitation for memorial book signatures was Wednesday at the Berryman Funeral Home. Survivors include a sister, Gloria (Thomas) Tye of Green Valley, Ariz.; six nephews, Thomas (Michaelene) Tye, II of Kearney, Michael (Julia) Tye of Kearney, Matthew Tye of Brooklyn, N.Y., James Burden, Jr. and Steven Burden both of Lincoln and Jeffrey Block of Coeur D Alene, Idaho; seven nieces, Deborah (Bruce) Brekke of Mobridge, S. D., Victoria Wells of Broomfield, Colo., Rhonda Wells, Rochelle Wells and Valorie Baker all of Ft. Collins, Colo., Katherine Burden of Lincoln and Patricia Caldwell; a sister-in-law, Moira Block of Coeur D Alene, Idaho and a brother-in-law, James Burden, Sr. of Lincoln. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Burton and two sisters, LaVawn Burden and Beverly Wells. He was born Aug. 18, 1938 in Dawson County to George and Freda (Kostman) Block and was confirmed at the American Lutheran Church in Cozad. He graduated from the Cozad High School in 1956.
