Funeral Services will be Saturday, May 22, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington with Pastor Jeff Beavers officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. Visitation was held Friday, May 21, 2010, at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. Verna was born Oct. 25, 1918, to Chauncy and Anna (Boosinger) Bacon in Patterson, Mo. The Bacon family moved to Nebraska, where Verna grew up and went to school in Pawnee. She was united in marriage to Marvin L. Blodgett on Dec. 31, 1934, at Seneca, Kan. Five children were blessed to this marriage: Kenneth, Marvin, Ronald, Jacklyn and Sharon. The couple lived most of their lives in the Lexington area. Verna had a heart for the elderly and spent many years helping to care for them in area rest homes. Many of those years were spent working at Westside Care Home. Verna loved to work in her garden, to cook, and was happiest when she was surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Survivors include two sons, Kenneth L. (Susan) Blodgett of Elbert, Colo., Ronald L. (Cheryl) Blodgett of Litchfield; two daughters, Jacklyn J. (Ed) Robirds of Austin, Colo., Sharon K. (Don) Hite of Cozad; one daughter-in-law, Paula Blodgett of Lexington; two sisters, Hazel Seachord and Goldie Harris both of Fairbury; 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Verna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin, on July 3, 1995, after 60 years of marriage; one son, Marvin, Jr.; one grandson, Rick; three brothers, Burr, Orville and Flem and four sisters, Bessie, Violet, Dolly and Elsie.
