Norman D. Burman, 70, of Sumner, died Monday, May 9, 2011 at the Phelps 
Memorial Hospital in Holdrege. 

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 13, 2011 at the Sumner United 
Church with the Rev. Kent Hutson officiating.  Interment will be at the Sumner 
Cemetery. 

Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. at O’Brien Straatmann Funeral Home and one hour 
prior to the service at the church. 

Norman Douglas Burman was born March 21, 1941 to Paul and Olivene (Miller) 
Burman in Kearney. He graduated from Sumner High School in 1958. He was united 
in marriage to Karen Griffin. To this union one daughter, Denise, was born. 

On Jan. 7, 1977, Norman was united in marriage to Marcia Murphy Miner. 
 
Norman is survived by his wife, Marcia Burman of Sumner; daughter, Denise 
Burman of Wausa; step-daughter, Tammi (Jesse) Miner of Las Vegas, Nev.; step-
son, Joseph Miner of Sumner; six grandchildren, all of Las Vegas; mother, 
Olivene Burman of Sumner; sister, Sandra (Allen) Kelley of Amherst and a 
brother, Gary (Lynda) Burman of Sumner.

Norman was preceded in death by his father, Paul Burman and his aunt Zenola 
Burman.
