Funeral Services for Sharon K. Carpenter will be held at the Evangelical Free Church in Loomis on Friday, Oct. 1, 2010 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Tom Thompson, officiating. Interment will be in the Overton Cemetery at Overton. Visitation will be held at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege on Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010 from 1 p.m. – 8 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m She was born July 16, 1945 at Cozad, the daughter of Herbert and Freda (Buss) Parsons. Sharon received her education from the Cozad Public Schools. Following her education, she helped her mother at home and assisted with the household duties for the family. On July 27, 1963 at the United Methodist Church in Cozad, Sharon was united in marriage to Keith Gene Carpenter and to this union four children were born: Jerry, Terry, Rosetta and Barry. The family made their home in Cozad until 1979 when they moved to Overton. After the children graduated they moved to Kearney for a period of time and then moved to Colby, Kan. In 1994, they moved to Holdrege. Sharon operated restaurants in the Overton and Loomis area. She will be remembered for her restaurant in Loomis called Sharon’s Home Cookin’, which she operated until her failing health. Cooking was always a joy for Sharon and she loved teaching her grandchildren how to cook as well. On Dec. 6, 2000 she was preceded in death by Keith. On Oct. 12, 2002, she was united in marriage to Dean S. Weeder. On Jan. 25, 2007, she was preceded in death by Dean. Sharon continued to reside in Holdrege, until the end of July when she made her home at the Bertrand Nursing Home due to her failing health. She leaves to mourn her passing her four children: Jerry (Laura) Carpenter of Moberly, Mo., Terry Carpenter of San Francisco, Calif., Rosie (Mark) Williams of Loomis and Barry (Gena) Carpenter of Overton; 11 grandchildren, Broc (Meagan) Carpenter, Brooke Carpenter and her fiancé, Thomas Twyford, Shelby and Casey Kelley, Matthew and Cameron Carpenter, Tyler (Courtney) Williams, Taylor Williams, Alison (Cole) Robinson, Alicia Carpenter and Arran Carpenter; four great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Jase, Ashton and Brecken; four brothers, Harold (Lorraine) Parsons of Cozad, Larry (Connie) Parsons of Great Bend, Kan., Gene (Shirley) Parsons of Cozad, Dick Parsons of Gothenburg; one sister, Lucille (Robert) Parrett of Fremont and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her parents and husbands, Sharon was preceded in death by six brothers: Melvin, Don, Kenny, Duayne, Ronald and Raymond Parsons at the age of one year.
